Check out Lake Missaukee in Lake City, Michigan

Lake Missaukee is a massive lake with a sand bar where all the boats hang out at during the day. There is a ton of room to hit the big waves with the jet ski, go tubing or wakeboarding, go fishing, or just cruise around.

At the end of the day, you can dock your boats in town and get ice cream. I've been going up here for the past 20 summers and it’s a great place to spend the Fourth of July.

Check out Silver Rock Quarry in Gibsonburg, Ohio

One of my favorite local spots to paddle board is Silver Rock Quarry. I love the location because it’s not too busy and you can paddle to certain locations and get off of your paddle board to explore nature.

It’s a great workout if you want it to be. And, if you don’t want it to be, it’s the best peace and quiet.

Check out Lake Hudson in Clayton, Michigan

Lake Hudson is just a 2-hour car ride from Sterling Heights, Michigan. Recognized as the first dark sky preserve in the United States, the sky on clear nights is amazing!

The area offers rustic camping, and the lake is stocked with walleye and muskie.
